    CURRENCY EXCHANGE
    • Foreign banknotes can be exchanged at most banks and other authorized moneychangers.
    BANKING HOURS
    • 09:00 - 16:00, Monday through Friday
  • Credit Card
    • Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted at most retail outlets.
    • Diners Club and American Express may be accepted only at major hotels, shops, and restaurants in larger cities.
  • Electricity
    • Power outlets in Korea use 220V / 60Hz.
    • Travelers using 110V devices may require a voltage converter or adapter, which is often available upon request at hotels.
  • Business Hours
    • Government office hours are usually from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • Banks are open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • Major department stores are open every day from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM including Sundays.
  • Time Difference
    • Korea is 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +9) and does not observe daylight savings time. Time Zone Converter
  • Tip & Tax
    TIP
    • Tipping is not customary in Korea. Service charges are usually included in hotel and restaurant bills.
    TAX
    • Foreign visitors may receive a VAT refund of approximately 10% for purchases made at designated “Duty Free Shopping” outlets. A minimum purchase of KRW 50,000 per receipt is required.
      Purchased goods must be taken out of Korea within three months. VAT refunds can be processed at the customs desk and Cash Refund Office at the airport upon departure.
